We offer four reporter spots for our alumni reporters at the oikos Young Scholars Academies (application deadline 25 May, 2012 for Academies in Switzerland and 30 April, 2012 for the Development Academy in Kenya).
In August 2012, oikos will conduct four young scholars academies, three in Switzerland and one in Kenya:
- The oikos Young Scholars Entrepreneurship Academy 2012 (26-31 August, 2012), focusing on Collaborative Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
- The oikos Young Scholars Organizations Academy 2012, focusing on Social Innovation and Organizational Impact (26-31 August, 2012).
- The oikos Young Scholars Economics Academy 2012 (19-24 August, 2012), focusing on the Dynamics of Migration.
- The oikos UNDP Young Scholars Development Academy 2012 (12-17 August, 2012), focusing on Markets and Culture for Inclusive Development. This Academy takes place in Kenya, Nairobi (Application deadline 30 April).
Each year the academies attract a selection of high-profile faculty and young scholars from across the globe. To increase the outreach of the Academies, oikos invites for each academy one student to participate as a Student Reporter.
You will have direct access to the participants and faculty of the oikos Young Scholars Academies, where you will experience five days of high-level in-depth discussions and debates. This will take place during paper sessions, roundtables, excursions and evening dinners. You will contribute to the oikos blog with text and visual content. During the five days of the academy you will summarise the discussions and highlight points recommendations. In addition you will have the opportunity to produce oikos podcasts for an international Academic community.

The Programme: Arriving in Switzerland on August 26, you can first explore the Swiss mountains and then, during an informal dinner, you will get to know our international faculty and the 15 international PhD candidates and junior faculty. On August 27, the oikos Young Scholars Academies start and your reporting work as a Student Reporter begins. After five days of intenisve academic debates you are expected to have produced a solid compilations of posts, podcasts, and pictures. Please check our website for more information on the history and variety of our academy programs.
What we offer: Join an exciting research event in the swiss alps! oikos will cover the participant fee, accommodation and food during the entire program (400 CHF). Travel to and in Switzerland is covered up to 200 CHF. Travel to Kenya is supported with 400 CHF.

If you are not an alumni student reporter we only recommend you to submit an application if you have a very strong and proven social media track record (ie. you author your own blog for a substantial amount of time and you are familiar with using wordpress, soundcloud, and conducting interviews and editing soundfiles). In addition to the motivation letter and CV you have to submit a one pager proving your social media track record (as separated word or PDF documents in the attachment).
